Looking for some feedback and different perspectives.I love my job. I sell my passion. Yacht Broker.Today I was speaking with someone on the dock who has a very nice boat. He explained that he had been in the Safe Boating Class I had taught at. I have been involved with Power Squadron for over 20 years, 18+ as an instructor and or helpful hand. The year he was in the class I had a few classes and ran the student cruise.I will admit it is hard to remember every face and name after 3 classes of about 20 per year; I did not remember him.Well, the amazing boat he had he had bought just the prior year through a broker he was not all that pleased with. It sounded like he felt he paid for services he pretty much did himself. I missed out and know I would have been a huge help to him.Most brokers bend over backwards to make the deal as easy and stress free as possible for both the seller and or the purchaser. Sounds like this was not the case.My interest and question I am asking for feedback is:Should I be pushing harder at the Power Squadron Classes for business? Power Squadron is volunteer and not something I feel I should leverage for business. I know some business will come for sure. Being involved with Squadron is something I did it well before I was in the industry and will probably be involved after I retire.
